LCROSS

It's the big day for the LCROSS mission. I was one of the many awake this morning to watch the Centaur rocket and the Shepherding Spacecraft crash into the Cabeus crater near the Moon's South Pole. It was nice to see it and to hear mission control report that it was successful, but there are no impressive visuals so far. I look forward to seeing images of the plumes that will hopefully come later today. Of course, I'm especially eager to hear the findings. The recent lunar water discoveries are exciting, and those together with LCROSS should provide a good picture of the lunar water budget and its distribution.
