addendum

NASA people have been working on extracting water from the lunar regolith for some time. In this case, by microwaves. Although the intent was probably focused on water ice near the poles, the recent discovery of global surface water makes it all the more relevant. It will be interesting to see how such technologies perform when the water is structurally bound or adsorbed onto the particles’ surfaces instead of frozen interstitially.
